L&rsquo;h\u00e9lium est un gaz qui a des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques telles qu&rsquo;il se trouve plus l\u00e9ger que l&rsquo;air qui nous entoure (qui est compos\u00e9 d&rsquo;un cocktail de gaz divers). Cette propri\u00e9t\u00e9 lui permet (et m\u00eame l&rsquo;oblige) \u00e0 s&rsquo;\u00e9lever dans l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re (nous parlons ici de l&rsquo;h\u00e9lium pur, et non des atomes se trouvant naturellement dans l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re). Ainsi, une quantit\u00e9 suffisante d&rsquo;h\u00e9lium enferm\u00e9e dans une enveloppe permet de lever des charges relativement importantes. Un autre gaz pourrait \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 de la m\u00eame mani\u00e8re, et m\u00eame de fa\u00e7on plus efficace (car il est encore plus l\u00e9ger que l&rsquo;h\u00e9lium), c&rsquo;est l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne. Malheureusement, l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne est gaz tr\u00e8s dangeureux et d\u00e9licat \u00e0 manipuler car il a la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00eatre extr\u00eamement inflammable. C&rsquo;est pour cette raison qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;est utilis\u00e9 pour les ballons sondes que dans des cas tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9cifiques et extr\u00eamement rare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Un ballon \u00e0 h\u00e9lium est compos\u00e9 de deux organes principaux : l&rsquo;enveloppe et la cha\u00eene de vol.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Le ballon est une enveloppe en latex tr\u00e8s extensible. Il est de taille variable selon la capacit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire pour emmener la charge de la nacelle. Ceux que nous utilisons ont un diam\u00e8tre d&rsquo;environ 2 m\u00e8tres au sol et peuvent atteindre plus de 10 m \u00e0 20 000 m d&rsquo;altitude.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> La cha\u00eene de vol, elle, est compos\u00e9e d&rsquo;un parachute, d&rsquo;une mire-radar pour les avions, et de la nacelle contenant le mat\u00e9riel n\u00e9cessaire aux exp\u00e9riences embarqu\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Le parachute est en plastique. Nous conseillons de placer un emerillon de chaque cot\u00e9 du parachute sur la cha\u00eene de vol pour \u00e9viter qu&rsquo;il ne s&rsquo;enroule et se mette en torche. Ce parachute sert \u00e0 freiner la chute de la nacelle. En effet, arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 une certaine altitude, l&rsquo;h\u00e9lium s&rsquo;est tellement dilat\u00e9 (pression faible en altitude), que le ballon \u00e9clate. Notons cependant qu&rsquo;un airbus rencontrant ce type de ballon, n&rsquo;en est aucunement g\u00ean\u00e9, il ne prendra pas la peine de se d\u00e9router. Un ballon aval\u00e9 par un r\u00e9acteur de jet est d\u00e9chiquet\u00e9 et rejet\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re des turbines sans aucun d\u00e9gat pour l&rsquo;avion (normalement&#8230;).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">La nacelle est compos\u00e9e de mat\u00e9riaux divers selon ce qu&rsquo;elle transporte.
